Does anyone decorating tips? Like what color should I paint my bedroom to keep it dark enough to have a cave like the atmosphere when I sleep … the ideas at all?

its not so much the color of your paint than your window treatments. get room darkening lined drapes. believe me i have them and when they are closed, even in the day it is pitch black in my room. its great since i work nights.

If you like the Victorian Era you could paint your room a plum colour and add a touch of gold to give it some shine , use a blind to keep the room dark when you are sleeping , ivory sheers. A dark bedspread or bed in a bag if you like would complete the room , I would buy the bedspread first and then pick the darkest colour out of it and have it computer matched by the paint store .

Okay, I understand that you want a dark room to sleep in, but you can accomplish that with proper drapes and black out lining. If you paint your walls dark rich colors you will drastically reduce the reflection of light so it will be cave like when your awake as well. Any dark color will work, and you could paint the ceiling the same color, but if you have beautiful cherry furniture, it will disappear against the dark walls lending no contrast. Black out lining will greatly reduce the light that comes in your windows, if that is the problem. go for the dark colors, but it will cave it out for the rest of your waking hours as well.

I would suggest go with a deep green. I assume you still want the bed to be seen. This will give some contrast between the walls and dark wood so they don’t blend together and disappear. Yet it will still give you the cave like atmosphere you “c”rave at night time when it will appear almost black.

play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the “painted” rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:
I think a dark green like “garden gate” (# 6167) would be ideal.

First thing I would purchase would be room darkening shades for your windows. I purchased mine through JC Penney, but there may be other retailers who also carry them. Cherry wood furniture is very rich and beautiful. Therefore, you should use a paint color on your walls with the same richness that your furniture has. I would recommend a few colors from Sherwin William’s. Option one: A brown color called “Colonial Revival Stone #2827″. Second option: A medium muted shade of green called “Sage Green Light #2851″. That was my favorite until I went into the blue section and found a color for option three: ” Bunglehouse Blue #0048″. This is a muted darker blue that really makes the cherry wood “pop”. I tried to find a shade of gold, since gold is intense and rich also, but didn’t like how any of the choices looked next to the cherry furniture.
